Slovak Republic's Recent History and Civil War Threat

In recent years, the Slovak Republic has faced political tensions that have led to concerns about a potential civil war. In 2018, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok warned that the country was "teetering on the brink of civil war." This statement was made in the wake of the attempted assassination of Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The Slovak National Uprising (SNP) was a military uprising organized by the Slovak people against the Nazi occupation during World War II. The SNP took place in 1944 and was led by General Ján Golian.
