Australian Open 2024: Sabalenka Cruises into Final, Ends Gauff's Slam Hopes

Sabalenka Extends Australian Open Dominance, Avenges Gauff Loss

Coco Gauff's Bid for Back-to-Back Slams Halted by Sabalenka's Power

Aryna Sabalenka has booked her ticket to the Australian Open final, dispatching rising star Coco Gauff in the semifinals to avenge her loss in the US Open final last year. The reigning Australian Open champion, Sabalenka, produced a dominant performance to overcome the American teenager in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Gauff, who had been in impressive form throughout the tournament, was unable to match Sabalenka's power and precision. The young American struggled with her serve, hitting three double faults, and was unable to find her rhythm on her groundstrokes, while Sabalenka remained in control throughout the match.

The Belarusian powerhouse will now face the winner of the other semifinal between Elena Rybakina and Viktoria Azarenka in the final. Sabalenka will be aiming to defend her Australian Open crown and become the first woman since Serena Williams in 2017 to win back-to-back titles at Melbourne Park.
