Mavericks Struggle to Keep Up in Blowout Loss

Boston Takes Early Series Lead

The Boston Celtics have taken a 1-0 series lead over the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals after a convincing 107-89 victory in Game 1 on Thursday night.

The Celtics controlled the game from the opening tip, leading by as many as 20 points in the first half. The Mavericks made a brief run in the third quarter, but the Celtics quickly regained control and cruised to the victory.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 21 points, while Jaylen Brown added 19 points and Robert Williams III had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Kristaps Porzingis returned to the Mavericks' lineup after missing the last five games with a calf injury, but he was limited to 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting.

The Mavericks will need to make some adjustments if they want to get back in the series. They struggled to generate offense against the Celtics' stingy defense, and they were outrebounded 50-32.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Sunday night in Boston.
